New Project - Wish You Were Here

Wish You Were Here - Strategies for sophisticated post-apocalyptic living

Project Brief :
"The brief asks you to initially explore solutions for a world that is unfamiliar and that has been changed forever. Whether a natural or man made disaster occurred, mankind must not only try to survive but also continue to preserve a sense of community and culture. Under these extreme circumstances any development is a conflict between dignity and survival. Your task is to explore how design or art become key to understanding change and adapting to it; challenging the relationships between people, technology and society. It is also a way in which you can use your research and outcomes to challenge our current socio-political and technological paradigms."
Project Aims:
"This project is intended to address your critical thinking by developing complex issues within your chosen practice. It will also become an exercise in project managing, learning how to execute projects over a long period of time and to be able to work towards producing outcomes to a high standard. At the end of the project you will need to have produced and presented a finished piece in any medium to a high standard."

Project Outcomes:
"You are required to produce a wealth of research and critical evaluation of your findings throughout your project. You need to be able to prepare for each tutorial with your tutors to discuss your progress to date and your proposed schedule for how your work will unfold over the four week period. During your contact time with your tutors, you must be able to organise your work in a coherent manner to be able to produce challenging discussions which can fuel the development of your work with the feedback received. The brief is broad and therefore can to be developed in all mediums which is something which will also be discussed in your tutorials. You will also be required to present your progress to the group and tutors mid-way of the project. This ‘work-in-progress’ presentation will not be assessed, but key to receiving critical feedback on your work whist also the rest of the class gains an overall impression of the standard and quality of ideas/work produced to date."
So, first impressions of this project are that I am feeling very overwhelmed and don't really have any idea of what I am going to do. We have been given lots of prompts to help like films to watch, books to read and artists to look into. Hopefully I will come up with something whilst looking through all of the given sources.
